    Missouri River
    The Missouri River drains one-sixth of the United States and encompasses nearly 530,000 square miles. In Montana, the river begins near Three Forks and is formed by the convergence of three other rivers, the Gallatin, Jefferson and Madison. After travelling over 700 miles across Montana, the Missouri continues east into North Dakota, south into South Dakota, Nebraska and Iowa and ends up in Missouri when it connects with the Mississippi River.

    Madison River originates in Gallatin National Forest, converging with the Jefferson and Gallatin rivers at Three Forks, Montana, to form the Missouri. The river is a popular spot for fishing.

    Gallatin River
    The Gallatin River is one of Montana's most scenic rivers and offers the best whitewater rafting and kayaking in the Yellowstone and Teton area with Class IV rapids along the "Mad Mile" section in Gallatin Canyon. The river forms in Yellowstone National Park and flows near Big Sky and Bozeman in southern Montana before joining the Jefferson and Madison to form the Missouri River near Three Forks.

    Jefferson River
    The Jefferson River was officially discovered by early explorers Lewis and Clark and named for Thomas Jefferson who was the US president at the time. The river is a popular fly-fishing destination in southwestern Montana and is one of the main tributaries of the Missouri River.
