Browning Historic Sites & Interpretive Centres
Camp Disappointment is the northernmost point reached by the Lewis and Clark Expedition. It is located on the Cut Bank River east of present-day Browning and is called "Camp Disappointment" since the Lousiana Territory did not stretch to 50 degrees north latitude, contradictory to their expectations. At milepost 233 on US 2 , there is a historical highway marker which is four miles directly south of the actual camp site.
